About

Mission and Vision

Making Magnolia Blossom aims to create sustainable growth in our community through the restoration of Magnolia, beginning with the Main Street corridor’s properties, businesses, and infrastructure.

A vibrant downtown is essential to development in Magnolia and for Southern Arkansas University through the recruitment and retention of future Muleriders and Magnolians. This Making Magnolia Blossom community collaboration will nurture lasting and impactful partnerships between the University and the Magnolia community by promoting a culture of civic responsibility and service.

Origins

Sized down_IMG_6455Making Magnolia Blossom (MMB) was conceived by a group of staff, faculty and students at Southern Arkansas University. Witnessing the growing disparity between the downtown square and other properties along Main Street, the group decided to meet and formulate a plan to mobilize SAU and other Magnolia institutions to lift up our commercial district.

While MMB is still in the early stages of development, a governing board and a series of committees are being assembled to tackle the deterioration of Main Street and revitalize commercial Magnolia. If you are interested in assisting with this process or serving on a committee, please contact us.
